Portland Fire News Release
Portland, OR - After 24 years underground, Rose is finally ready to join Fire fans in the Fire Pit to cheer on their favorite team. Tonight, the Portland Fire officially introduced Rose, a pink, glitter-breathing dragon born from the legacy and unmistakable spirit of Portland.
"As the Fire returned to the court in 2026, Rose represents the Fire's spirit and relationship with Portland: passionate, unapologetic, and radiant," said Portland Fire Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Kimberly Veale. "She's a living modern force, embodying the vibe and self-assurance of a true Portland individualist that inspires us to truly flourish. As we get to know her, it's clear that she's got a little edge, a lot of personality, and after two decades waiting for her team to return, plenty of catching up to do."
Powerful, wise and fiercely loyal, dragons are legendary guardians. Rose enters Portland with her own style, protecting the spirit of the city and the community that fuels it. The rose crown that sits atop her head is her signature adornment, an elegant signal of her fierce strength. Glitter brings her joy, a central accessory in both her eye shadow and her glitter-breathing capabilities. Her dragon scales are made out of roses, celebrating her namesake Rose City home. Her tail lights up, her smile is always warm and welcoming, and she is always sporting the latest Nike shoes.
In collaboration with the Pantone Color Institute, the Fire have defined the team's Rose Pink to bring Rose's personality to life. Brilliantly glowing, Rose is a modern burst of drama that revels in attention and rejoices in the power of visibility. A radiant pulse runs through Rose, a surge of color charged energy embracing a playful and unrestrained sense of motion. Bursting with heightened vitality, Rose instantly engages, carrying a kinetic spirit whose uplift and optimism feels powerful yet instinctive.
Rose made her debut at the Moda Center during Sunday night's home game, bringing an end to a week-long mystery that left unusual scorch marks and trails of pink glitter across Portland. As mysterious signs of Rose's awakening began appearing throughout the city, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) joined the search, helping investigate the unusual discoveries and piece together clues about what - or who - might be behind them.
The trail ultimately led back to Moda Center where Rose emerged from her underground home and revealed herself to Fire fans for the first time. Fans can now step into Rose's world through her new in-arena lair, a cave-like extension of the sanctuary she built beneath Portland. Inside, modern design meets chic Portland and high fashion. With a glittery pink aesthetic, Rose has curated vintage Fire memorabilia and an eclectic collection of treasures gathered from her short time exploring Portland. From nods to the original Fire to pieces of the city she calls home, the space offers a glimpse into Rose's personality, her connection to Portland and what she's been up to all these years.
Rose's arrival caps a milestone week for women's sports in Portland, following the second annual Epicenter Week and the opening of the landmark Kaiser Permanente Performance Center - the latest milestones in RAJ Sports' continued investment in cementing Portland as the global epicenter for women's sports.
Fans can follow Rose's adventures on Instagram and TikTok @itsrosethedragon, and visit her new lair inside the Moda Center for photos during all future Fire home games.
