SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs are proud to announce forwards William Poirier and Joe Veleno have each won team awards for the month of November.
Poirier, 18, is the Swagelok Student of the Month.
The native of Valleyfield, Quebec, is a very disciplined student and thrives on obtaining above-average marks in all his courses in the CEGEP Distance program. A first-year student in Natural Sciences, he aims to achieve 90% in all of his classes and he is well on his way. His workload is ambitious, but he completes his assignments with hard work and always has a positive attitude.
Veleno, 17, is the Irving Oil Player of the Month.
The product of Kirkland, Quebec, posted two goals and ten points in ten games last month. Highlights included a goal and an assist in a 5-4 loss to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar on November 2nd and two assists in a 5-4 loss to the Sherbrooke Phoenix on November 9th.
Entering play tonight, Veleno is second in team scoring with 28 points and tied for second in the QMJHL with 24 assists.
