
Playoff Positions Still Up For Grabs
March 3, 2003 - Atlantic Coast Hockey League 2 (ACHL 2) News Release
It's down to the final two weeks of the regular season in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League. While both the Orlando Seals and Knoxville Ice Bears have secured playoff spots, the remaining two spots are still up for grabs with all of the remaining four clubs still in the playoff hunt. Heading into this week's action, the Macon is in third place with 48 points while Winston-Salem is in fourth with 43 points. Cape Fear (41 points) and Jacksonville (35 points) also remain in the running.
Miami Press Conference:
Miami owners David & Ruth Waronker will hold a Press Conference at the Miami (Florida) Arena on Tuesday, March 4th at 1PM to officially introduce the new ACHL franchise. The team's name, head coach, general manager, and additional team details will be announced.
ACHL Player of the Week:
Veteran forward Paul Vincent of the Jacksonville Barracudas is the Atlantic Coast Hockey League Player of the Week. The native of Ceylon, Saskatchewan had an outstanding week with twelve points in three games (four goals and eight assists) as the Barracudas won two of three. In only 18 games in Jacksonville, Vincent has 14 goals and 32 assists for an impressive 46 points.
ACHL Goaltender of the Week:
Geoff Faulkner of the Macon Trax is the Atlantic Coast Hockey League Goaltender of the Week. In three games last week, he won two and lost a third in shootout as the Trax solidified their hold on third place in the ACHL standings. The Windsor Locks, Connecticut native also posted his third shutout of the season on 2/27 in Knoxville against the Ice Bears. For the week, he also stopped 79 of 84 shots on goal.
