
Playoff Excitement Building for RoadRunners

For the ninth consecutive season, the Topeka RoadRunners have qualified for postseason play, which begins this Friday night in Landon Arena. The team has finished no worse than second place in each of those nine seasons, earning home-ice advantage in the NAHL South Division Semi-Finals.
The week begins Tuesday April 7 with the bi-weekly Coach's Show, broadcast live locally on Sports Radio 1490 KTOP-AM from the Blind Tiger Brewery and Restaurant at the corner of 37th and Kansas Ave. in Topeka. The show's host, Arch Ecker will visit with RoadRunner head coach and GM Scott Langer, as well as defenseman Ryan Polin to talk about the upcoming playoff series. The show begins at 6:00 pm is also streamed live online through iHeart Radio, a free app available through Google Play or the iTunes App Store for your smartphone, tablet, or device.
On Wednesday, April 8 the team will be making an appearance at Chick-Fil-A in the West Ridge Mall from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The team will appear in shifts based on their uniform numbers. Players with numbers from 3-15 will be on hand for the first hour, while numbers 16-33 will arrive for the second hour. They will be available for autographs and photos. It's a great opportunity for fans to interact with their favorite players and show support as the team prepares to defend their South Division playoff title. The team's playoff theme this year is "I've Got The Magic In Me".
The NAHL South Division Semi-Finals begin on Friday night. Game 1 vs the Wichita Falls Wildcats begins at 7:05 pm, and Game 2 will follow on Saturday at 7:05 pm in Landon Arena. The RoadRunners earned a first round bye as the #3 seed Wichita Falls Wildcats had to face #6 Rio Grande Valley in a best-of-three play-in series, which the "?Cats swept 2-0. In the other South Division play-in series, #5 Wenatchee swept past #4 Corpus Christi 2 games to none and will face the #1 seed Lone Star Brahmas.
Games 3 and 4 (if necessary) of the RoadRunners vs Wildcats series will be played in Wichita Falls at the Kay Yeager Coliseum on Monday and Tuesday April 13 and 14. If necessary, a Game 5 would be played in Landon Arena on Saturday, April 18. All games will be aired on SportsRadio 1490 KTOP, streamed live with iHeart Radio, and available on pay-per-view at FASTHockey.com. Home games are also broadcast inside the arena on 88.9 FM.
Playoff tickets are open to the public beginning Tuesday, April 7. Season ticket holders have the option to secure their seats now. Group tickets are available by contacting the RoadRunners office at 785-286-7825, or by stopping in at 1800 SW Exoduster Blvd. on the west side of the Expocentre near the Security Office.
