Rockford Thunder News Release

ROCKFORD - With renovations well underway at the team's new playing facility in Roscoe, the Rockford Thunder announced today that their field's name will officially change from Player's Park to Thunder Park.

The two-field complex, which is located near the intersection of Swanson Road and IL 251, plans to have new signage for the park and all schedules, including those for Stateline Youth Association (SYA) game and other incoming tournament, will now include the new complex name of Thunder Park.

"This is really an exciting day for the Thunder organization," stated General Manager Aaron M. Moore. "The Village of Roscoe and the folks with SYA have really been outstanding through all of this and to now have the complex name changed to our own is very special."

Thunder Park is now the first field in the league to bear its team name in the name of the field/complex it calls home.

"The Village of Roscoe is very excited about the Rockford Thunder coming and feel that it was a good idea to change the name of Players Park to Thunder Park," said Katherine Kliebe, Roscoe Village Trustee. "The Village Trustees and residents look forward to watching the team play this coming year.

It has been very exciting watching all the changes take place at the park and want to thank Stateline Youth Assoc. and all of the individuals that have donated their time and all the businesses that were also involved."

Construction, weather permitted, is scheduled to continue this coming Saturday at Thunder Park. Volunteer crews are planning on beginning construction of the ticket booths, merchandise stand/press box, outfield fence and dugout tops.
