Pittsburgh Power News Release

PHILADELPHIA- The Pittsburgh Power concluded their inaugural season with a win Friday night, defeating the Philadelphia Soul, 61-48, in front of 16,429 at Wells Fargo Center. The win avenges a Week 1 loss to the Soul, who will end their season at 6-12. Pittsburgh finishes 8-8 with the win, just a few wins shy of a playoff berth.

It was a different look for the Power this week, with Pittsburgh native Bill Stull getting the spot under center. After Philadelphia scored early, Pittsburgh took the lead late in the first half and never looked back. Bernard Morris, the usual starting quarterback, spent some time at wide receiver. While he caught a nice 21-yard touchdown pass in the 4th, his efforts would be out-shined. Pittsburgh's Mike Washington racked up 155 yards with 11 receptions and 4 touchdowns, earning him Russell Offensive Player of the Game honors.

The Soul didn't go down without a fight though, bringing the score within five points early in the fourth. Once Soul WR Donovan Morgan left the game after being hit hard into the boards, the game was as good as over. Larry Brackins scored the final touchdown for Philadelphia, making the score 54-48 with 14 seconds left on the clock, but just four seconds later Power WR Jason Willis recovered the Soul's on-side kick for a touchdown. Time quickly ran out for the Soul, with the final score solidified at 61-48.

With his scoring tonight, Washington will finish his season with 30 touchdowns and 1,367 receiving yards, which leads the team. Willis, who finishes with 1,199 receiving yards, is the only other Power receiver to finish with over 1,000 yards this season.

The Pittsburgh Power organization would like to thank their fans for making their first season so enjoyable. We have revamped our season ticket packages for the 2012 season, and encourage you to visit www.pittsburghpowerfootball.com to learn about the new upgrades. See you next season!
