Pitching and Batting Prevails in Wise Guys Home Opener Win

August 2, 2020 - Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release

In a 61/2 inning shortened game, the Jersey Wise Guys (4-3) came to play in a 15-0 rout of the Skylands Cardinals. The bats were alive for Jersey as they racked up 13 hits starting off with an RBI double from Tucker Nathans and a bunch of miscues got the scoring to 2-0. The Wise Guys managed to score in every inning while pitcher Joe Testa had a fantastic outing, pitching five innings with seven punchouts and only giving up four hits. A single by James Marisano started off a seven spot in the bottom of the sixth where the Wise Guys batted around.

The Cardinals (3-4) could not get anything going with the bats as runs kept pouring and pouring on as pitchers AJ Candelario and John Hilcher couldn't get out of jams. Milton Ramos went 1 for 3 with a single.

Wise Guys DH James Morisano went 3 for 5 with a single, double and a monster HR to center. Both teams will play each other on Sunday at Skylands Stadium with a 5:00 PM start. The Jackals return to Yogi Berra Stadium with a Sunday matchup against the New York Brave slated for 2:05 PM.
