
Pitchers combine to shutout Bandits in Madison

MIDDLETON, Wis. - The Thunder improved to 2-0 during the exhibition season with a 1-0 shutout of the Chicago Bandits at the Hitters SportsPlex on Friday night.
Five Rockford pitchers combined to shutout the Bandits in the game to outduel the combination of Eileen Canney and Kristina Thorson.
Cat Osterman and Samantha Sheeley each threw two innings of shutout ball, while Megan Brown, Cassidy Scoggins and Allison Kime chipped in with one apiece.
The Thunder picked up the only run of the ballgame in the bottom of the fourth inning. Shanna Diller led off the inning with a sharp single and she moved to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Laurie Wagner. Jamie Davison then drove a ball hard to first base that Samantha Findlay had a hard time fielding allowing Diller to come all the way around to score.
The team will in action tonight and tomorrow night in Rockford for exhibition games. Saturday's Celebrity Slow Pitch Game will begin at 6 p.m. and Sunday's game with the Bandits will start at 3 p.m. On Sunday, the Thunder will wear the uniforms of the Rockford Peaches. Both games will be played at Thunder Park at Roscoe (5444 Swanson Road).
