Pit Spitters Drop Game Two, Split Series
June 30, 2022 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Traverse City Pit Spitters News Release
Traverse City, MI - The Traverse City Pit Spitters fell behind early and could never recover as the Kenosha Kingfish took game two 5-2 to split the series.
Kenosha scored two runs in the second and two in the fifth to go up 4-0. Pit Spitter batters had no answer for Clark Candiotti, as he held them off the board through the first four innings.
They finally broke through in the bottom of the fifth, scoring on a wild pitch. But they would leave two more runners in scoring position. They'd score another in the sixth on a Sam Tackett RBI single. But like the fifth, the Pit Spitters would leave runners in scoring position.
Kenosha would add one more run in the seventh to go up 5-2 and would allow just one hit across the last three innings to win by that score.
The Pit Spitters managed nine hits for the second straight game, but unlike last night, they left too many runners on base and failed to capitalize on big opportunities.
Up Next
The Pit Spitters continue the home stand Friday against the Wausau Woodchucks. First pitch scheduled for 7:05 ET.
