Pirates Announce Ticket Plans for 2008-09 Season

PORTLAND, ME - The Portland Pirates announced today ticket prices and products for their 2008-2009 American Hockey League season. All season ticket plans including full, half, and 10 game plans, as well as 5 and 10 voucher flex packs are on sale now and can be purchased by visiting the Pirates office at 94 Free Street in Portland, by calling (207) 828-4665 x350 or online at http://www.portlandpirates.com

The Pirates are entering their 16th season in Portland and it is the 32nd year of AHL hockey in the Cumberland County Civic Center. Coming off another successful season, the energy and excitement in the Cumberland County Civic Center has been experienced and enjoyed by close to 5,000 fans per game for the past three seasons. Since the 2005-2006 season, Pirates' attendance has grown by over 15 percent. Next season, the Pirates will reach a franchise milestone and welcome their 3 millionth fan.

The Pirates schedule for the 2008-2009 season will feature two games at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston and one game at Alfond Arena at the University of Maine, Orono. The addition of the two games in Lewiston is a continuation of the strategy from last season to showcase Pirates Hockey to fans outside the city of Portland.

Season ticket plans for the 2008-2009 season start at $70, Flex Packs as low as $35 and Group plans start at just $10 per ticket (for a group of 15 or more). The benefits of being a Pirates Season Ticket Holder include great savings compared to Box Office prices, discounts on merchandise and a special Season Ticket Holder Benefit Card. Additionally, birthday parties presented by Amato's and the ever-popular Family 5 Packs will be offered again next season. Fans can secure a season ticket plan for as little as 10 games or as many as 37 games, and reserve their seat locations now.

Season tickets will also be available once again in the Funtown Splashtown Family Fun Zone hosted by Jolly John, which has 99 seats available in section AA of the Civic Center. An alcohol-free seating and entertainment area, the Family Fun Zone is part of a multi-faceted marketing relationship between the Pirates and Funtown Splashtown USA, in Saco, Maine. Fans in this section will enjoy special entertainment, giveaways, mascot visits and other great promotions throughout the season. Individual game tickets for the 2008-2009 season will go on sale Friday, September 26th, and will range from $9 to $20, with "day of game" prices increasing by $1 per ticket, as has been the case for the past three seasons. While the lowest priced tickets have increased by just $1, the majority of tickets have stayed the same price as the 2007-2008 season, and in some cases, have even decreased in price. "We are looking forward to an exciting 2008-09 season. As we continue to build our business plan for next season, our focus will be to improve the overall fan experience. Our fan base has been extremely loyal over the years, but as we continue to strive to provide the best entertainment value and attract new Pirates fans we need to enhance the presentation and that is what we will do.
