Pioneer Baseball League Announce Tryout Camp Draft, Players of the Week, Roundup Show Guest

August 1, 2022 - Pioneer League (PL) News Release

Windsor, CO - The Pioneer Baseball League presented by TicketSmarter today announced the draft picks from its Mid-Season Tryout Camp and its Players of the Week.

Also announced, the PBL Roundup Show presented by the Baseball Bureau's Scout School will feature special guest stars Randy Wilkins, director of ESPN's "The Captain" documentary series on Derek Jeter, and Executive Producer Mike Tollin.

The PBL Roundup Show can be streamed each Wednesday night at 5pm Mountain Time through pblnetwork.com.

As well, this week's show will focus on the decline of interest and participation rates among African Americans. Former MLB star Adam Jones will provide his thoughts and commentary.

"Great players like Derek Jeter and Adam Jones serve as role models for young African Americans wanting to play baseball," said PBL Executive Vice President Henry Hunter.

"With declining player participation rates in the black community, it's critically important for the PBL to focus on how to reverse these trends. The people responsible for producing and directing "The Captain" and Adam's return to the Roundup Show will help us shed some light on the problem and hopefully offer some constructive thoughts on how to turn things around."

The Pioneer League's Mid-Season Tryout Camp, held this past weekend in Boise, Idaho, was attended by nearly 120 players who were either overlooked in MLB's Frist Year Player Draft or who had been previously drafted and released.

24 players, attached below, were selected in the post-camp draft by the ten PBL clubs.
