
PIFL Names Players of the Week

NASHVILLE, TN (April 21, 2015) - The Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) is proud to announce the Week 5 Players of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week: WR Jordan Jolly (Nashville)
Taking a real liking to the Columbus Civic Center, for the second time in as many road meetings Venom WR Jordan Jolly (6'2 185, Navarro) went over the 200-yard receiving plateau against the Lions. On Saturday, he hauled in ten receptions for 220 yards and 4 TD's guiding Nashville to a 58-55 come from behind victory over Columbus. In two career games in Columbus Jolly has amassed 15 receptions for 446 yards booking 5 trips to the end-zone. It was a crucial road win for the defending champion Venom who will return home this weekend to host the Richmond Raiders (2-3).
Honorable Mentions: QB Charles McCullum (Nashville), QB Shane McSweeny (Lehigh Valley)
Defensive Player of the Week: DB Joe Powell (Lehigh Valley)
For the second time this season a member of the Steelhawks defense takes home the honor of Defensive Player of the Week, this team earning the nod is DB Joe Powell (6'2 190, Globe Tech). In the 59-33 victory over Erie, Powell intercepted two passes both coming in Saturday's final quarter. Powell's final INT put the final nail on the coffin when he promptly returned it 52-yards for a touchdown, the longest INT return in the PIFL this season. Through four games, the Hawks have picked off opponents a league high 12 times including another four on Saturday.
Honorable Mention: DB Jamie Graham (Nashville), LB Robert Caldwell (Columbus)
Special Teams Player of the Week: K T.C. Stevens (Richmond) For the third time and second time in as many weeks, Raiders K T.C. Stevens (5'9 180, Sydney-Hampden) earns the Special Teams Player of the Week nod. Leading all kickers in scoring with 16 points, Stevens notched two Uno's and converted five of six PAT attempts and for the second week in a row went a perfect three for three in field goal attempts (38, 16, 29). The Week 5 honor marks his twelfth weekly nod and thru five weeks Stevens leads the PIFL in scoring with 48 points, his best opening five week start to a season his Special Teams MVP season back in 2012.
Honorable Mention: K Christian Reed (Nashville)
PIFL action resumes this Saturday with all seven teams in action. The Hammers (2-1) take their two-game winning streak into Columbus (3-1) while the Steelhawks (3-1) and Freedom (2-2) renew their rivalry when the pair face-off in Trenton. The Explosion hope to grab their first win of the season when they host the ASI Panthers (AIF) in a non-conference intra-state clash while the Venom look to get over .500 for the first time when they host the Raiders.
