NASHVILLE, TN (May 20, 2014) - The Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) announces that Nashville Venom WR Jordan Jolly, Nashville Venom LB Anthony Kelly, and Harrisburg Stampede K Cap Poklemba are the Week 8 Players of the Week.
After opening their inaugural season with three straight wins, the Nashville Venom (4-2) ran into a buzz saw in the Georgia Fire dropping two straight to their division rival. This past Saturday Nashville ended their losing streak by clipping the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks on the road 53-38. WR Jordan Jolly, the Week 8 Offensive Player of the Week, set a PIFL single-game high for the season hauling in 173 yards on 13 receptions vaulting the Venom back into first-place in the American Conference. Jolly is the first non-QB to win the award since Week 3 when Columbus' WR Earl Alexander took home the award. Nashville returns home this Saturday for the first of the first of two meetings against division rival Columbus (3-3).
For the second time this season, first since Week 2, a member of the Venom's defensive squad earned the Zoombang Defensive Player of the Week nod with this week's recipient being LB Anthony Kelly. Kelly picked up two key turnovers of which included intercepting his first pass of the season as well as scooping up a fumble and returning it 27-yards for a key touchdown in the second half of Saturday's 53-38 victory over Lehigh. He follows teammate DB Corry Stewart as the other member of the Venom squad to earn Zoombang's weekly distinction.

Three teams went into the weekend looking to end a two-game losing streak, after Nashville it was Harrisburg (3-4) that broke their two-game snide winning a 73-53 shootout over Georgia (3- 3). For the second time this season, Stampede K Cap Poklemba picks up the weekly honor of the Vidswap.com Special Teams Player of the Week for scoring 12 by going 9 of 10 on PAT's as well as notching three Uno's. Coupled with the Steelhawks loss, the Herd stay in the playoff discussion as they currently sit two games back of the first-place Freedom (5-2) and up next is a road trip to face the last-place Raiders (1-5).
