Alpena MI: The North American Hockey League announced that Alpena's Drew Pierson has been named North division player of the week.

Pierson rang up four goals and three assists last weekend as the IceDiggers split a pair of games with Mahoning Valley. On Friday, the 20-year-old Army recruit recorded his first junior hat trick in a 4-3 loss.

"Drew was very good this weekend, he has been playing hard every shift and this weekend he was rewarded for his efforts. He was a big part of the reason we played so well this weekend." said head coach Kenny Miller

The next night, the Pleasant Prairie, Wis., native scored the game-winning goal and three assists as Alpena doubled up the North Division-champion Phantoms, 6-3.

Pierson is 8th in the NAHL scoring race with 29 goals, 36 assist for 65 points, the second year player leads the league in powerplay goals with 16.
