February 6, 2012 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL)
Illinois Piasa News Release

This Saturday the Illinois Piasa will continue their push for the playoffs as they host the First Place Detroit Waza in the final game of the regular season. Before the game the Piasa will honor St.Louis soccer legend Dragan "Don" Popovic. Don will be recognized for his induction into the inaugural class of the Indoor Soccer Hall of Fame.

Don first came to the United States from the former Yugoslavia to play in the midfield for the St.Louis Stars in the late 1960s. Though Don had an impressive playing career in the US, he is most recognized for his coaching career, which started in Toronto in 1974. Don went on to lead many teams throughout the US and Canada in professional indoor soccer. One of those teams was the New York Arrows of the MISL, who won 4 consecutive titles under Don's leadership. In 1989, the St.Louis Storm hired Don as their coach where he stayed for 3 seasons. After the St.Louis Storm, Don went on to coach on the youth level in St.Louis and continues today as the Executive Vice President and Club Director of Lou Fusz Soccer Club.

The Illinois Piasa will host the Detroit Waza this Saturday night, February 11th at 7:35pm at The Sports Academy. With a record of 6 wins and 8 losses, the Piasa are tied with Cincinnati for 3rd place in the Eastern Division with 2 games remaining in the season.
