Piasa Push for the Playoffs
January 24, 2012 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL)
Illinois Piasa News Release
For the Illinois Piasa the 2011/2012 season has been full of ups and downs, but with only 3 games left in the season the Piasa are far from the end. The team currently sits in 4th place, with a record of 5 wins and 8 losses, and in the final playoff spot in the Eastern Division. But that position is anything but safe, with Cincinnati on their heels with 4 wins and 8 losses and 4 games remaining.
The Piasa are hoping this weekend might work in their favor and hopefully put a little more distance between them and the Cincinnati Kings, as the Piasa will host last place Ohio Friday night and Cincinnati plays at First place Detroit Saturday.
Piasa players to watch:
Elvir Kafedzic- 23 goals, 6 assists- 2nd in the league in goals scored
Roger Gemoules- 12 goals, 9 assists
Justin Judiscak- 7 goals, 11 assists
Blake Ordell- 8 goals, 7 assists
Tim Vance- 7 goals, 2 assists
Jon Fridal- 6 goals, 1 assist
Greg Crook- 73.5% Save average- 7.49 GAA (7th in the league)
There's no doubt that co-head coach Joe Reiniger's return to the field has also helped the team, as he has scored 2 goals and 3 assists in just 3 games.
The Illinois Piasa will play the Ohio Vortex this Friday night, January 27th at 7:35pm at The Sports Academy.
Illinois Piasa is a professional indoor soccer team now into their second season as a PASL franchise and play their home games at The Sports Academy, located at 101 The Game Drive, Glen Carbon, IL 62034.
