Piasa Lose 2 Over Weekend
February 12, 2012 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL)
Illinois Piasa News Release
It was a tough weekend for the Illinois Piasa, who were without their lead scorer Elvir Kafedzic. The Piasa lost to the Kansas Magic on Friday night, 8-2 and last night they lost a heartbreaker to First Place Detroit, 6-5. It was the Piasa's last game of the season and both loses put the Piasa out of reach of the fourth playoff spot, but there is still hope.
On Saturday night, luck for the Piasa came in the form of the Ohio Vortex as they stunned Cincinnati with a 9-5 victory. Cincinnati has 1 game remaining on their season, which is a home game against Detroit on Saturday, Feb 25. If Cincinnati loses that final game then it would put the Piasa and Cincinnati with the same record in the Eastern Division. However, the Piasa would have the upper hand as they have beaten Cincinnati 2 games out of 3 this season. The PASL rules state that the team with the better head to head record advances, therefore the Piasa would advance.
So, it appears the team's season may not be over yet, but until February 25 there is no way of telling. Stay Tuned!
