Phoenix Rising FC to Host Greenville Triumph SC in First Match of the 2023 U.S. Open Cup

Phoenix Rising FC will host Greenville Triumph (South Carolina) in its first match of the 2023 U.S Open Cup, U.S. Soccer announced today.

Exact dates and times for the Second Round Open Cup match have not been determined, but the game will take place at Phoenix Rising Stadium at 38th Street and Washington between April 4 and April 6.

U.S. Soccer's annual National Championship, the U.S. Open Cup field consists of 24 Division II (including Phoenix Rising) and 22 Division III pro teams. Major League Soccer teams (Division I) will join the competition in a later round.

U.S. Soccer made these pairings on a geographical basis. If three or more teams/pairings were from the same proximity, matchups for these teams were made by random selection. Instances where a logical geographic fit did not exist were resolved by random selection. Home teams for each round are determined by random selection among those who applied to host. Clubs whose venue meets minimum tournament standards are given priority.
