February 6, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Phoenix Rising FC News Release

PHOENIX - Phoenix Rising FC returns to preseason action tomorrow night with a showdown against MLS Western Conference Finalist Sporting KC at the Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex. The match part of the Mobile Mini Sun Cup will kickoff at 6:00 p.m. and gates will open 60 minutes prior to kickoff. Fans can still purchase tickets for the match at PHXRisingFC.com. The match, consisting of two 75 minute segments, will not be streamed or broadcasted live.

Rising FC opened its preseason play last Saturday when it traveled to Tucson to take on MLS side Minnesota United. Despite creating several scoring chances throughout the match, the club walked away with a 0-0 draw. It was the second consecutive match against an MLS club with a positive result (win or draw).

All officially rostered players available played against Minnesota United, including goalkeeper Brandon Keniston, who become the first Phoenix Rising Youth player to get minutes with the first team.

This will be the second meeting between Rising FC and Sporting KC. The first time the clubs met was during the 2018 Mobile Mini Sun Cup last year when Sporting KC won 2-1. In that match, Phoenix Rising took a lead after just five minutes, but Sporting recovered and scored in the 17th and 30th minute to take back, and hold onto, the lead.
