
Phoenix FC Signs First Player

Phoenix, ARIZ. (Sept. 28, 2012) - Phoenix FC, Arizona's premiere professional soccer franchise, proudly announces that it has signed its first professional player to a one-year contract for the team's upcoming inaugural season, former Aberdeen FC forward Darren Mackie.
A renowned Scottish Premier League veteran, Mackie has competed in 315 total matches over 14 years with Aberdeen FC, and has scored 63 goals in his career.
"We are thrilled to come to an agreement with Darren knowing that he possesses outstanding qualities on and off the field", stated Phoenix FC Head Coach David Robertson. "With Darren's leadership and experience, Phoenix FC is positioned to immediately compete for a USL PRO Championship." Robertson was a six-time Scottish Premier Champion, all with Aberdeen FC.
Per club policy, financial details will not be disclosed and the contract is still pending approval by USL PRO and the United States Soccer Federation (USSF). Phoenix FC begins play in April 2013.
