Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA – Philadelphia Soul quarterback Todd Hammel, a 13-year veteran of the Arena Football League, needs only four touchdown passes to reach 400 for his career, which would make him only the 5th QB in League history to reach that plateau.

Hammel also needs 214 passing yards to reach 25,000 for his career.

Hammel replaced Nick Browder as the starting QB after Browder suffered a separated shoulder on March 21st against the Colorado Crush and was subsequently placed on the injured reserve list.

The Soul also announced they have activated WR/LB Gary Compton from the injured reserve. Compton was placed on the injured reserve list on February 18th after suffering a knee injury in the Soul's February 15th game against the Dallas Desperados.

WR/LB Derin Graham has been placed on injured reserve with a hamstring strain of his right leg. On the season, Graham has recorded 29 receptions for 289 yards and two touchdowns. He also has returned five kicks for 56 yards.

The Soul have also announced they have signed former Philadelphia Eagle Jamal Wallace to the practice squad. Wallace was signed by the Eagles as a rookie free agent prior to the 2003 training camp. Wallace made 34 consecutive starts for the Temple Owls and completed his career with 264 tackles, three interceptions and one sack.
