Philadelphia Soul Continue to Prepare for 2012

PHILADELPHIA (March 6, 2012) - The Philadelphia Soul continued their preparation for the 2012 season in training camp this morning. Throughout camp, the highlights have come mostly from the receiving corps and the pressure the defense has been able to bring to the offensive backfield.
Today, the receivers and defensive backs continued their display of athleticism as they battled downfield once again. Impressive one-handed catches were matched with last second breakups in a back and forth battle between the positions.
The team is starting to solidify and take shape in the final week of training camp. Tomorrow's practice has been changed to 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Training Camp concludes Friday, March 9 with the final practice running from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: WR/KR ALFONSO HOGGARD (5'3, 150, Clarion): Entering his rookie season in the AFL . Four-year starter at Clarion, rushing for 2,161 yards and 26 touchdowns in last two seasons . First Team All-PSAC West . Named PSAC West Offensive Player of the Year 2009 . Began career as wide receiver, recording 48 passes for 505 yards and three touchdowns as freshman in 2007 . Caught 41 passes for 472 yards and two touchdowns as a sophomore in 2008

"We're all working hard out there and trying to make the most of our opportunity. I think we have a good chance to build on last year and make a great stride heading into this season."
CHILDREN OF THE 80s: Every player on the Soul 2012 roster was born in the 1980s. The most players celebrating their birthdays in a single month is eight during the month of July. Not a single player on the Soul roster was born in the months of June or August. The most players born within a single year is eight in 1986. The fewest were born in 1981 and 1988 with one each.
The oldest members of the Soul include Dustin Barno and Clifton Smith, born in 1980, and Darrell Campbell who was born in 1981. The youngest members are Koreen Burch and Alfonso Hoggard, both born in 1989.
