Philadelphia Force Presents Clinic with Katie Burkhart

The Philadelphia Force is pleased to announce that its star pitcher, 2008 NPF Pitcher of the Year, Katie Burkhart, will be the featured guest at a special clinic teaching the intricacies of softball pitching, Saturday, December 20th, at the Diamond Baseball Academy, 102 Queens Drive, King of Prussia, PA from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Cost of the clinic is $125.00 for the two-hour session, which includes a motivational speech from Burkhart and a ticket to a future Force game. All participants that register by Thursday, November 20th will be invited to a special meet-and-greet with Katie during batting practice prior to a game during the 2009 season. Those that register before Monday, December 1st will receive a specially personalized, autographed softball from Burkhart herself.

Katie Burkhart, the number one overall draft pick by the Philadelphia Force in the 2008 NPF draft, enjoyed a truly dominant rookie season in the circle, leading the league with 13 wins (13-5) and a 1.87 ERA, while compiling a team-high 149 strikeouts (2nd in NPF), 15 complete games, and 131.2 innings pitched.

Burkhart was a key component to the success of the Arizona State softball team as it won its first National Championship in program history. The PAC-10 Pitcher of the Year dominated on the mound. She had the third best ERA in the nation (.75) and the second most strikeouts per seven innings (11.4). The Most Outstanding Player at the Women's College World Series, Burkhart picked up 41 wins on the season and struck out 513 batters. With her 41 wins, Burkhart broke her own single-season record. In her career, she struck out a total of 1,670 batters and holds the career strikeout record at ASU.
