
Philadelphia and San Jose advance to Virgin Mobile ArenaBowl XXII in New Orleans

NEW YORK - The Philadelphia Soul (15-3) and San Jose SaberCats (13-5) will meet in Virgin Mobile ArenaBowl XXII in New Orleans for the Arena Football League championship on Sunday, July 27. The game will be televised live on ESPN on ABC (HD) at 3 pm ET.
Philadelphia, the Mitsubishi Motors Eastern Division Champion and overall top seed in the AFL playoffs, will make its first-ever appearance in an ArenaBowl after defeating the Cleveland Gladiators (11-8), 70-35, at the Wachovia Center in the National Conference Championship Game.
San Jose, the defending ArenaBowl XXI champion, won its third consecutive Mitsubishi Motors Western Division title and is making its fourth ArenaBowl appearance in seven years after defeating the Grand Rapids Rampage (8-11), 81-55, in the American Conference Championship Game. The SaberCats are looking to become the first team to win back-to-back ArenaBowl titles since the Tampa Bay Storm (1995-96) and to become only the third team to win four ArenaBowls (Tampa Bay - 5, Detroit - 4).
