LAKEWOOD, NJ - Jonathan Pettibone won his third straight start as the BlueClaws also won their third in a row, 5-2, over the Kannapolis Intimidators (White Sox) Friday night.

Pettibone (8-6) struck out seven in seven brilliant innings, limiting Kannapolis (33-34) to just three hits and two runs. He retired the first 14 Initmidators he faced before finally allowing a hit in the fifth.

This was the 20 year-old right-hander's last start before the playoffs, where he is set to be the Game Three starter against Hickory.

Lakewood (40-26) broke up a 2-2 tie in the sixth against Kannapolis starter and Yardley, PA native Ryan Buch (5-3). The Monmouth grad walked Michael Dabbs to start the inning, gave up a double to Jonathan Singleton to put two runners in scoring position with no outs. Leandro Castro and Jeremy Barnes followed with sacrifice-flies, and the Claws had a 4-2 lead.

Castro added an RBI single in the seventh to up his team-leading total to 80.

The BlueClaws opened the scoring in the third. Anthony Hewitt and Kyle Lafrenz singled to start the inning and advanced into scoring position on a Carlos Perdomo ground out. Jiwan James followed with an RBI ground out to short to make it a 1-0 game.

Lakewood added a run in the fourth after Leandro Castro struck out but reached on a wild pitch. He then stole second and took third on a wild pitch, and scored on a fielder's choice E6 to push the Claws lead to two.

Pettibone was perfect through the first four innings, but with two down in the fifth Kannapolis rallied. Jordan Cheatham reached on a weakly hit ball down the third baseline, and Juan Silverio doubled on a seeing-eye blooper to center with nobody covering second. John Spatola then tied the game with a two-run single up the middle just out of Pettibone's reach.

Mike McGuire threw a hitless ninth for his fifth save.

Saturday at 7:05 pm RHP Julio Rodriguez (4-1, 1.61) will go up against Kannapolis LHP Matt Wickswat (7-6, 3.98).
