
Crawdads Slow Drive with 3-2 Win

GREENVILLE, SC - The Hickory Crawdads took the series opener against the Greenville Drive, 3-2, before 5,135 fans at Fluor Field on Friday night.
After 5.5 scoreless innings to start the game, the Drive (76-60, 40-26) struck first in the bottom of the sixth against LHP Miguel De Los Santos. 3B Michael Almanzar worked a one-out walk and moved from first to third on a wild pitch, throwing error combination. C Sean Killeen knocked him in with an RBI single, cracking the scoreless tie.
The Crawdads (73-63, 33-33) came back with a two-out rally in the eighth against RHP Dennis Neuman (0-3). C Zach Zaneski extended the frame with a two-out double to center, before coming home on a game-tying RBI single by LF Jared Prince. Prince then trotted home on a two-run homer by RF Guillermo Pimentel, putting Hickory up, 3-1.
The 'Dads withstood a ninth-inning comeback attempt by Greenville and hung on for the 3-2 victory. LHP Joseph Ortiz (4-1) registered the win for Hickory, tossing 1.2 innings of relief, and RHP Johan Yan logged the save with the final two frames on the mound. Neuman was tagged with the loss for Greenville.
