Peter Abbandonato Named Week 9 Ultramar Player of the Week

Boucherville, QC - For the second time this season, Peter Abbandonato of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies has been named the Ultramar Player of the Week. In just two games, the veteran center recorded six goals and four assists thanks to back to back five-point outings on home ice.

On Friday night, Abbandonato recorded a hat trick and added two assists in the Huskies' 11-1 victory over the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. Named the games' second star, the 20-year-old from Laval, Quebec spread out his offensive production, starting with an assist on the Huskies' first tally of the game less than five minutes into the first period and ending the night by scoring his ninth goal of the season with 34 seconds remaining in the contest.

The following night, Abbandonato picked up right where he left off, firing home another three goals and picking up an additional pair of helpers in Rouyn-Noranda's 6-4 triumph over the Victoriaville Tigres. This time, the Huskies' Assistant Captain got down to business in timelier fashion, notching his hat trick marker with just over three minutes remaining in the second period. To add to his offensive explosion, Abbandonato went a remarkable 15-for-19 in the faceoff circle en route to being named the game's first star.

Abbandonato's ten-point performance has catapulted him into the league scoring lead with 45 points in 23 games. He also leads the circuit in assists with 33 while his Huskies enter the last full week of November with a league best 19-4 record. Their 38 points leave them tied with the Moncton Wildcats for top spot overall in that category.
