Pensacola's Joe Caveney Named Easton Rookie O
March 31, 2014 - SPHL (SPHL) News Release
HUNTERSVILLE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League on Monday announced that Joe Caveney of the Pensacola Ice Flyers has been selected as the Easton Rookie of the Year in a vote of league coaches, general managers and media representatives.
Peoria's Garrett Vermeersch finished second in the balloting.
Caveney finished second in the SPHL with 57 points, was fourth in goals (26) and fifth in assists (31) despite only playing 39 games due to a pair of call-ups to the ECHL where he played 14 games. Caveney (Fitchburg, MA) played 11 games for the Ice Flyers last March following his senior season at Fitchburg State College, where he earned USCHO East All-American honors and led all Division III players in points per game, assists per game and power-play goals.
