Penguins Release Zapolski from PTO

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have released goaltender Ryan Zapolski from his professional tryout agreement (PTO).

Signed to a PTO on Dec. 11, Zapolski did not appear in any games for the Penguins. Prior to joining Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Zapolski had won six straight with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL en route to an 8-4-0 record with one shutout, a 1.49 goals against average and a .948 save percentage.

Zapolski, 26, began the 2012-13 season with the Gwinnett Gladiators (ECHL), winning both of his starts. He currently leads the ECHL in goals against average (1.57) and save percentage (.945).
