Peanuts To Hold Open Tryout On Saturday

May 1, 2007 - South Coast League (SCL)
South Georgia Peanuts News Release

The South Georgia Peanuts, presented by Security Bank, will be holding an open tryout this Saturday at the Paul Eames Sports Complex. This tryout will give a number of players the opportunity to be invited to spring training. Peanuts Field Manager Wally Backman also hopes to find some players that might not be signed immediately for spring training but can be signed at a later date after a roster change.

"This is a great chance for a ballplayer because we are looking to sign a few guys," Backman said. "During other tryouts, I have already been really impressed with the baseball talent from the area. Hopefully this will give us a chance to not only sign some more players but to sign some guys who are from the area."

Registration will begin at eight in the morning. The tryout will begin at nine. There is a $40 fee to take part in the event. Participants are asked to come prepared in baseball apparel and to bring their own equipment. Players can pre-register for the event online at www.southgeorgiapeanuts.com.

The Peanuts will begin to report to Albany the first week of May. Spring training will begin on May 8th. Peanuts tickets are currently on sale by contacting the team office at (229) 435-8900! The home opener is set for May 24 against the Charlotte County Redfish. South Georgia Peanuts...One Shell of a Good Time!
