Peanuts Split Double Dip, Acquire Wilson

South Georgia Peanuts News Release


The South Georgia Peanuts, presented by Security Bank, split a double-header with the Aiken Foxhounds on Tuesday. The Peanuts won game one, 2-1, and lost game two, 4-3.

In the first game, Joey Hooft went 3-3 and was the only Peanut with more than one hit. Hooft along with Curtis Goodwin Sr. each had an RBI. Dustin Taylor picked up his eight win after pitching five innings allowing one run on five hits. Derek Duclos pitched a perfect inning before Austin Weilep pitched the ninth to pick up his second save of the year.

In the second game, Kyle Keen went 2-3 with a run and an RBI and was the only Peanut with more than one hit. Chris Webb got the spot start for the Peanuts and was great through three innings before allowing two runs in his fourth inning of work. Mike Colacchio and Ja Jones combined for 2.2 innings of scoreless baseball.

After the game, the Peanuts announced a big trade. Anderson outfielder/first basemen Desi Wilson has been acquired by the Peanuts. South Georgia sent Chris Demons to Anderson. Wilson began the season as the manager of the Joes before activating himself as a player. He is currently hitting .372 in 20 games with the Joes. He spent time with the San Francisco Giants and is the third former big leaguer to join the Peanuts this season.

Wilson will be active for the Peanuts game on Wednesday. South Georgia and Aiken will wrap up the four-game set with a 7:10 start. Jerome Gamble is expected to get the start for the Peanuts.
