Peanuts Open Second Half with Win

South Georgia Peanuts News Release


The South Georgia Peanuts, presented by Security Bank, began the second half of the South Coast League season the same way it spent most of the first half, by winning. The Peanuts won by a score of 6-4 while Austin Weilep got his sixth win of the season.

The Foxhounds actually took the early lead from South Georgia. The foxhounds scored a run in the first and third innings. In the first, Kelly Hunt hit a double, which scored Scott Houin from second. IN the third, Francis Finnerty hit a single to score Chad Miller from second.

The Peanuts got it going in the bottom of the third inning. Against Valdosta native and former big-leaguer Tim Drew, South Georgia loaded the bases and Weilep scored from third on a Drew wild pitch. The Peanuts did strand the two runners left on base in the inning.

The Peanuts took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, Johnny Washington singled to shallow right field, which scored both Nick Prosise and Curtis Goodwin.

Aiken did try to make a comeback. The Foxhounds scored two runs in the seventh when Kelly Hunt hit a double to score Scott Houin and Garth McKinney. Hunt was thrown o
