The South Georgia Peanuts, presented by Security Bank, are champions of the South Coast League. The Peanuts took home the SCL crown by beating the Macon Music 8-2 in the third and final game of the SCL Championship series.

The Peanuts scored three runs in the first three innings and never really looked back. Leading 3-0, the Peanuts added three more runs during the middle three innings to take a 6-0 lead into the seventh inning. While Macon did score two runs in the eighth inning, the Peanuts held on to win 8-2.

Desi Wilson led the way for the Peanuts going 3-4 with three RBI in his final professional ballgame. Doc Brooks, who was named series MVP, went 2-3 with two runs and one RBI. Joey Hooft and Jasha Balcom also had two hits while Curtis Goodwin Sr. scored two runs.

Dustin Taylor got the start for the Peanuts and was sensational. He pitched six innings and did not allow a run on four hits. Austin Weilep pitched the final three innings to earn a save and secure the victory.

The win finished the season for South Georgia. The Peanuts will return next season. A schedule should be announced soon. Throughout the off-season, southgeorgiapeanuts.com will keep you updated with all the latest Peanuts news and notes.
