Peanuts And Macon Going To A Deciding Game Three

South Georgia Peanuts News Release


The South Georgia Peanuts, presented by Security Bank, fell in game two of the South Coast League championship series to the Macon Music, 5-1. Macon starting pitcher Ross Stout pitched seven innings of five-hit baseball while Peanuts pitchers allowed 13 hits in the loss. The loss for the Peanuts sets up a final game three on Sunday in Albany.

Each team scored a run in each of the first three half innings. In the top of the first, Dorian Rojas scored on an Ismael Castro single. In the bottom of the first, Curtis Goodwin Sr. scored on a Joey Hooft single. In the top of the second, Casey Garrison scored on a Steve Trout triple. The score would remain 2-1 for the next three innings.

Macon scored three more runs in the final three innings of the contest. The team scored one run in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings to secure the 5-1 victory. Scott Robinson and Casey Garrison each had three hits on the night while Rojas scored two runs and Castro drove two runs in.

For the Peanuts, Goodwin and Doc Brooks each had two hits to be the only players with a multiple hit night. Jerome Gamble got the start for South Georgia and did not pitch poorly. He allowed three runs in seven innings of work with six strikeouts. Gamble took the loss while Stout took the win. Ja Jones came in out of relief in the ninth inning and did not allow a run in one inning of work.
