Chicago lost a tough match on Saturday night to the Quad Cities Riverhawks 113-96, despite Stanley Thomas throwing down 25 points - more than one-fourth of all Throwback scoring that night. Jimmie Miles (14), Steve Harvin (13) and Jerome Harper (11) also scored in double figures for the Throwbacks, while Jason Warren pulled down 10 rebounds.
Next up was a matchup against the Rockford Fury, which for Chicago was another close match. Unfortunately, there is no statistical column in the PBL for "close loss," so the Throwbacks had to settle for a 120-115 loss to their division rivals. While Jerome Harper put 25 points on the board, William Gourhke and William Mayfield had 11 and 10 rebounds, respectively. Jimmie Miles had 16 points, he also stole the ball four times for the Throwbacks.

The Quad Cities Riverhawks held on to their Western Division lead with a 113-96 victory over the Chicago Throwbacks. While Quinnell Brown led all scorers with 23 points, both Dave Bancroft (14 pts, 13 rebs) and Bobby Anderson (11 pts, 14 rebs) notched double-doubles in the victory. The game was held at Rockridge High School in Edgington, Ill. The change in venue was necessitated so that the Illinois High School Association's Dual Team State Wrestling tournament could be held that day at Wharton Field House; the event was originally scheduled to take place at Northern Illinois University, but was moved so that NIU could use that facility for a memorial service due to the horrific recent on-campus shooting.
The Riverhawks continued their winning streak with a 96-93 triumph Sunday night against the Reading Railers, as Antiony Harden put up 20 points in the Riverhawks victory. Bobby Anderson' s 14 rebounds balanced his 15 points for a double-double, while PBL Player of the Week Ryan Edwards finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Are the Reading Railers making a second-half comeback in the PBL? Could be. With the fans in the Sovereign Center cheering wildly for their hometown Railers, Reading defeated the division-leading Rochester Razorsharks 114-99, holding Rochester to under 100 points for the first time all season. Jared Mills, returning from his eye injury earlier this season, led the Railers with 23 points, including a trio of three-pointers. Tayron Thomas joined with newcomer J.R. Morris to score 21 points apiece for Reading, while Aaron Williams pulled down a team-leading 14 rebounds.
The Railers next took on the Quad Cities Riverhawks, but came up short in a defensive struggle, 96-93. While Jared Mills was top scorer for the Railers with 24 points, Aaron Williams led in the Reading rebounding category with nine boards. Tayron Thomas finished with 12 points and 8 assists, while Brent Wilson stole the ball four times, adding nicely to his 13 points.

The Razorsharks continued their PBL dominance with a 125-106 home victory over the Maryland Nighthawks, bringing their home winning streak to 43 games spread over three seasons in two leagues. Keith Friel was the top scorer for Rochester, putting in 22 points and 15 rebounds. Part of the dominance came in the second quarter, as Rochester poured 40 points into the hoop, with Sammy Monroe and James "Mook" Reaves scoring 14 points apiece in the first half - Monroe and Reaves finished with 21 and 15 points, respectively.
But on Saturday afternoon, the Razorsharks visited the Sovereign Center for a match with the Reading Railers. Despite 24 points from Sammy Monroe and a 22-point, 10-rebound double-double from James "Mook" Reaves, the Sharks fell behind early and never caught up, losing 114-99 to the Railers. The Sharks, who were held under 100 points for the first time this season, also set franchise futility marks for greatest margin of loss (15 points) and, at one point, deepest deficit in a game (23 points).
On Sunday, the Razorsharks picked up their second win against Maryalnd Nighthawks, 108-104 in North Bethesda. Keith Friel finished with 30 points, including five 3-pointers - ironically, the stats were recorded on the same day that Friel's Notre Dame record of eight 3-pointers in a game was shattered by Kyle McAlarney's 9 treys against Syracuse. Ron Rollerson finished with 14 points and 9 rebounds, while James "Mook" Reaves had 9 boards and 10 points, despite playing with a sprained knee.

Ameer Watts of the Rockford Fury set a PBL record Saturday night against the Dallas Defenders. In Rockford's 151-131 victory, Watts, who scored 36 points, drained TEN three-pointers, the most by any PBL player. Watts was one of seven Furies to score in double figures; Amir Major finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Reggie George and Daniel Artest completed a 21 and 20 point run, respectively. Frank Richards also had a respectable night, with 19 points, six assists and three steals.
The Fury took that momentum to a 120-115 victory on Sunday afternoon against the Chicago Throwbacks, to help Rockford move up in the standings. Daniel Artest, the younger brother of the NBA's Ron Artest, had 30 points and 14 rebounds in the Fury win, while Reggie George added 21 points and Geoff Wing put 20 on the board. And trying to score against George was extremely difficult, as he was credited with NINE blocked shots!

In a nail-biter of a game, the Wilmington Sea Dawgs lost on Saturday night to the Jacksonville Slam, 106-103. Trailing most of the game, Wilmington drew to within one solitary point with a minute left on the clock. But despite the best efforts of Charles Ward (24 pts, 11 rebs) and Jermaine Wiliams (21 pts), the Sea Dawgs could not take the victory.
Game reports compiled via team press releases, and from articles appearing in the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, the Reading Eagle, the Rockford Register-Star, the Quad City Times, the Wilmington Star-News, and other newspapers.
