Central Illinois Drive News Release

Bloomington, IL, 4/8/12 - The Central Division Champion Central Illinois Drive, presented by Sonic, will play the Rochester RazorSharks this week for the PBL Championship. Like round 1, the PBL Championship is a best of three series. The Drive finished the regular season 18-1 and are the #1 seed. Rochester finished 17-2 and they are the #2 seed. Once again the Drive will open on the road in game 1 and then play games 2 and 3 at home. The schedule is as follows:

Series Recap

Game 1: Drive at Rochester April 12, 6:00 pm CDT

Game 2: Rochester at Drive April 14, 7:00 pm CDT

*Game 3: Rochester at Drive April 15, 7:00 pm CDT

(*if necessary)

The Championship will be a matchup of opposites. The Drive are in their inaugural season while the RazorSharks are now in their seventh season. They have won four championships in their six year history. Rochester started as a member of the ABA in 2005-06 and won the ABA Championship that season. In 2008 they joined the PBL. Rochester won the PBL Championship in 2008, 2009, and 2011. In 2010 they lost 2 games to 1 in the Championship Series to Lawton-Fort Sill.

Another difference is size. The Drive have four players over 6'5. The RazorSharks have five. After Saturday's game, members of the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Steamers' coaching staff said that the RazorSharks will have the size advantage, but they do not have the speed that the Drive have. With the fast paced game the Drive play matched against Rochester's size, it will be an interesting series to watch.
