Patterson, Cousins Lead Bighorns over Drive

Grand Rapids Drive News Release

RENO -Lamar Patterson scored 24 points with eight rebounds and seven assists and Isaiah Cousins added 23 points as the Reno Bighorns (8-13) defeated the Grand Rapids Drive (11-12) at home on Monday night. The final score was 107-101 as the Bighorns grabbed their second consecutive win.

Reno outscored the Drive by six in the first quarter and three in the third quarter, and Grand Rapids was not able to mount enough of a comeback in the fourth. All five Bighorns starters were in double figures. Skal Labissiere added 17 points and 12 rebounds and Georgios Papagiannis had 16 points and nine rebounds, both on assignment from the Sacramento Kings.

Kevin Murphy scored 23 points with 10 rebounds for the Drive and Ramon Harris had a season-high 21 points to go with seven rebounds. Ray McCallum, recently named the #2 call up-eligible prospect in the D-League added 16 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.

Murphy hit seven three-pointers as the only Drive player who was able to get much going from behind the arc. The rest of Grand Rapids' players combined to go 6-of-35 from deep. They shot 29 percent from three as a team. Jordan Crawford, one of the hottest players in the D-League leading up to this game, had 18 points off the bench but shot just 2-of-12 from three.

Reno was not any better, going 6-of-23 as a team from three for 26 percent, but they made up for it by drawing 38 free throw attempts to just 14 for the Drive, out-rebounding the Drive 53-41, and forcing 17 turnovers on the league's lowest-turnover team.

They were also one of the few teams this season to register more assists than the Drive, putting up 24 as a team thanks to Patterson's eight and Mark Tyndale with six off the bench in just 17 minutes.

Grand Rapids will continue their seven-game road trip on Jan. 11 against the Salt Lake City Stars. Reno will stay at home for a tilt with the Austin Spurs the same day.
