CINCINNATI 6 LOUISVILLE 5 F
11/12/10 - Season Two of the Louisville Lightning/Cincinnati Kings rivalry looks a lot like Season One did. Once again it came down to a one goal game with Cincinnati just slightly better, winning 6-5 before 1,058 at Mockingbird Valley Sports Complex, spoiling Louisville's home opener.
Also familiar was a hat trick from reigning MVP Jeff Hughes.
Cincinnati had to overcome three one-goal deficits. Louisville took the lead on goals by Chad Hagerty, Safet Kovacevic, and John Michael Hayden. Cincinnati countered with goals by Hughes, Jeff Henderson, and Sam Fiore.
Hughes gave the Kings their first lead of the season with 4:02 to go in the first half.
Eddie Hertsenberg and Hughes scored to give Cincinnati leads of 5-3 and 6-4, matched by Lightning goals from Othaniel Yanez and Adam Boyer. Boyer's goal came with 2:39 left in the game, but the Lightning could not crack Kings star goalkeeper Craig Salvati again. Salvati finished with 20 saves.
