PASL-Pro Exhibition Game Coming to Topeka

February 10, 2011 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) News Release

The Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL-Pro) today in conjunction with the Kansas Magic announced a spring exhibition game to be played at the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka, Kansas.

The game will be held on Saturday, April 30 at 7:35pm and will feature the Magic and Illinois Piasa. The Piasa (pronounced pie-a-saw) are currently 7-3 in their first season in the PASL-Pro, tied for first place in the Frontier Division.

The Magic, who unveiled their name and logo at a press conference today at the Expocentre, have applied for membership in the PASL-Pro with the intention of starting play this November.

"We are very excited to be coming to Topeka and we think the Magic and Piasa will put on a great show for the fans," said PASL-Pro Commissioner Kevin Milliken. "We want April 30 to be the first of many PASL-Pro games in Kansas for years to come."

Tickets go on sale Friday at 10am. Tickets can be purchased at box office or through Ticketmaster.

Arena soccer, commonly also referred to as indoor soccer, is played in the confines of a rink with six on six and penalties like hockey, but on a synthetic turf surface. PASL-Pro games average 15 goals per game earning the fast-paced, high-scoring sport the colorful nickname "Human Pinball."

The PASL-Pro plays a 16-game season from November through March.

Fifteen teams in the US, Canada, and Mexico are currently vying for four playoff spots in the North American Championship tournament that will be held March 10-12 at Cincinnati Gardens in Cincinnati, OH. La Raza de Guadalajara and Sidekicks de Estado Mexico have already qualified from the Liga Mexicana de Futbol Rapido.

The PASL-Pro is a professional league which began play on October 25, 2008. Now in its third season, the PASL-Pro consists of US teams, the CMISL (Canada), and the LMFR (Mexico). The Tacoma Stars, Revolucion Tijuana, Wenatchee Fire, Kitsap Pumas, Springfield Demize, and Illinois Piasa have been added for the 2010-11 season. The PASL-Premier is in its 13th season as the nation's top amateur arena soccer league. The PASL-Pro and PASL-Premier are members of Federacion Internacional de Futbol Rapido (FIFRA).
