Parrots play four games this week with playoff implications

Its an important week ahead for the Winston-Salem Parrots as they face the two teams who are right behind them in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League standings for the fourth, and final, playoff spot. With only six weeks remaining in the regular season, the Parrots begin the week in fourth place in the ACHL with 33 points in the standings. The Macon Trax (who the Parrots play Tuesday & Saturday) are in fifth place with 31 points. The Jacksonville Barracudas (who play the Parrots Wednesday & Friday) are in sixth place with 27 points.

Parrots Games This Week:

Tuesday 2/4: Parrots @ Macon Trax (7:30PM)

Wednesday 2/5: Parrots @ Jacksonville Barracudas (7:00PM)

Friday 2/7: HOME GAME @ 7:30PM vs. Jacksonville Barracudas @ Joel Coliseum Annex.

After The Game: Fans can meet the Parrots and get autographs in

the Players Sports Bar at the Adam's Mark Hotel.

No admission charge.

Parrots Team Highlights:

The Parrots made two player changes over the weekend. Winston-Salem has traded Defenseman Randy Drohan to the Cape Fear (Fayetteville) Fire Antz in return for Forward Kristoffer Lidbrandt. In 25 games with both the Fire Antz and with Knoxville, Lidbrandt has scored three goals and added two assists for five points

The Parrots also have made a goaltending change, releasing Bill Horn , and adding new netminder Dean Weasler. Weasler had an outstanding college career at St. Cloud State in Minnesota.

Chris Cerrella is fifth in the ACHL in scoring with 51 points. Cerrella is also first in goals scored with 26 goals.

Defenseman Ken Fels is fifth in the league in penalty minutes with 155.

Matt Holmes is second in short handed goals with 3; first in shooting % with 17 goals on 69 shots for a 24.6% shooting percentage; and tied for first in game winning goals with 5.

Defenseman Andrew Dickson is second in the ACHL in +/- with a +22 rating.
