Florida Tropics SC News Release
LAKELAND - Victor Parreiras and Chad Vandegriffe have been named to the Major Arena Soccer League's "Elite Six" all-star team, league officials have announced.
Previously known as the All MASL first-team, Parreiras and Vandegriffe both rewrote the Tropics record book this year to earn their Elite Six status.
Parreiras, the captain, scored 29 goals (a career high) and amassed 52 total points, the most by any one player in a Tropics season over the past six years.
Vandegriffe, who is in the running for MASL Defender of the Year honors as well, blocked 54 shots this season, obliterating the team record for blocks in a year. He also had five goals this year, tied for second most goals in a season by Vandegriffe since joining the league in 2013-14.
"It's a well deserved honor for both. They have been our best players and both have taken their games to a new level this year which is one of the key reasons we had such a good regular season," Coach Clay Roberts said. "Their contributions both on and off the floor can't be overstated. They are quality players and quality people that represent the Tropics exactly as to how we want to be represented."
The Tropics will host the Kansas City Comets in Game Two of the 2022 Ron Newman Cup playoffs Saturday, April 23 at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland. Kickoff is at 6 p.m, ticket information including how to get free tickets to the game, can be found HERE!
