Philadelphia KiXX News Release
Philadelphia, PA, April 22, 2003 â The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today that goalkeeper Peter Pappas and defender Pat Morris of the Philadelphia KiXX were voted to the All-MISL Second Team. Pappas and Morris are joined on the All-League Second Team by Milwaukee Wave twin brothers Troy and Todd Dusosky, Carlos "Chile' Farias of the San Diego Sockers and Harrisburg's David Bascome. The selections are the results of voting by members of the media who cover the League's teams, MISL team managers and coaches.
The selection for Pappas is the fifth-such selection (third consecutive) of his seven-year career. He was also voted on the All-MISL Second Team for his play during the 2000-01 and 2001-02 campaigns and the All-League Third Team after the 1997-98 and 1999-00 seasons. For his play this season, the Philadelphia University product was named MISL Defensive Player of the Week three times; the seven-day periods ending November 3, February 9 and March 23. After his perfect 6-0 month of November 2002, he was named the League's Defensive Player of the Month.
The 30-year old goalkeeper finished the 2002-03 title-defending campaign with a 19-8 record, leading the club to a first-place regular season finish in the Eastern Conference. Overall, the Toronto, Ontario native ranked second in the MISL in wins, second in points against average (9.93) and fourth in minutes played (1703) and saves (349). Pappas earned his 150th victory of his career against the Milwaukee Wave on March 22 at the First Union Spectrum. The milestone made him just the fifth player in League history to record 150 career wins. On March 9, Pappas made his sixth career All-Star selection and his fourth consecutive start. In his first half of action, he tallied seven saves on the 10 shots he faced to receive a no decision in the contest. The 2003 MISL All-Star Game was played at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Morris, joining Pappas on the All-League second team, was named to the All-MISL First Team for his play last season (2001-02). This season, the Philadelphia-native finished first on the team (5th MISL) with 62 blocks, third with 15 assists and fifth with 47 points. His five-game winning goals ranked second on the team behind KiXX player/coach Don D'Ambra and tied second in the League. On February 28, against the visiting Dallas Sidekicks, the 25-year old defender recorded three blocks to mark 200 in his career. Similar to Pappas, he represented the Philadelphia KiXX and the Eastern Conference in the 2003 MISL All-Star Game in Milwaukee; it was his second consecutive appearance in the League's All-Star classic. In the contest, he notched a two-point strike.
The Philadelphia KiXX are a member of the Major Indoor Soccer League, a single-entity organization that features a coast-to-coast presence across the United States. The club, entering their eighth season of action, play in the First Union Spectrum located in Philadelphia, PA.
