Panther City Lacrosse Club Scores with Special Olympics Texas

Yesterday, the Panther City Lacrosse Club in partnership with Special Olympics Texas and the Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Institute held a box lacrosse clinic for athletes from Special Olympics Texas at Game On Sports Complex in Fort Worth. The participants were able to receive instruction from Panther City Lacrosse Club players Phil Caputo, Nathan Grenon and Will Malcom.

"Today was my first time playing lacrosse, but I had so much fun learning how to play and learning the basics," Special Olympics Texas athlete Thomas Parks said following the conclusion of the event. "I had fun [and] it was amazing [interacting with the Panther City players]. They are so great at teaching us how to play. The way they explained was beyond amazing and I am so grateful."

The clinic featured three stations where the basics of lacrosse were taught with Caputo teaching the art of scooping up a ground ball, Malcom showing everyone how to correctly throw the lacrosse ball with a lacrosse stick and finally Grenon explaining how to cradle a ball in the stick.

"I think just being out here and being able to get to do this with an awesome group like Special Olympics Texas is why we came and lived in market," Grenon said. "We knew as an expansion team that lacrosse is brand new to Texas and that we would have to embed ourselves in the community and we love coming out and doing stuff like this. The feedback and enthusiasm from fans and children in the community is heartwarming and only solidifies our decision to live here in Fort Worth."

The team next takes the floor this weekend in San Diego on Friday, April 15 at 9:00 p.m. CT on Bally Sports Southwest Plus and ESPN+. Following this weekend's game the team has its final two home games of the 2021-22 season at Dickies Arena on Saturday, April 23 and Saturday, April 30. The opening face-off for both games is 7:30 p.m. CT and fans can snag their tickets by visiting PantherCityLax.com.

"The wins and losses dictate how we are defined on the floor, but our virtues are in our own hands and those are dictated outside of the floor," Grenon said. "Being able to do an event like this with Special Olympics Texas is a remarkable feeling and it is so great to be out in the Fort Worth community."

Asked if would be attending a Panther City Lacrosse Club game following today's event with the team, Parks said, "I would say pretty soon - pretty soon!"
