Panther City Lacrosse Club News Release
HALIFAX, NS - The Panther City Lacrosse Club (6-7) hung tough, but ultimately their first half blunders did them in, as they lost to the Halifax Thunderbirds (8-6), 13-9, on Friday night from the Scotiabank Centre. Panther City managed only two goals in the first half, but limited Halifax to three second-half goals, yet they were not able to overcome the deficit from the first half.
Jonathan Donville led PCLC with four points (3G/1A) and recorded his fourth hat trick of the season, to set a new career high with four hat tricks thus far through 13 games in '23-24. For his career, Donville has totaled seven hat tricks in 31 career games. Transition player Tony Malcom had his best offensive output of the season as he recorded four points (1G/3A). Will Malcom led the team with four assists.
Goalie Cam MacLeod played the entire second half for Panther City and stopped 20 of the 23 shots (.870 SV %) he faced. MacLeod surrendered three goals to Halifax, which they scored in a 60-second burst, thus shutting down the dynamic Thunderbirds offense, scoreless for 29 of the 30 second-half minutes.
In his second game of the season, defenseman Tyler Burton led the team with eight loose balls and also caused one turnover. PCLC as a team forced 11 turnovers on the evening.
In a crucial playoff push, Panther City returns to the floor back home at Dickies Arena next Friday, March 22 at 7 p.m. to face the defending NLL champion Buffalo Bandits.
