Danville Dans News Release

DANVILLE, IL - Two of the 2013 Danville Dans have been named to All-American rosters for 2013.

Corbin Olmstead, a freshman pitcher and infielder with University of North Florida, was named to the 2013 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team. And Casey Fletcher, an Oakwood native and Kankakee Community College sophomore outfielder and pitcher, was selected as a 3rd Team All-American for the NJCAA Division II.

"It's great that these two Dans received these All-American honors for their college season," said Dans managing partner Jeanie Cooke. "It's just another example of the quality of players that come to Danville every summer to work on their game and get better. That's why we can say the Dans have 20 Major Leaguers on our alumni list."

Olmstead, Tampa native is a two-way player for North Florida who made 21 relief appearances on the mound and played in 40 games with 35 starts. He hit .307 in his freshman season with four doubles and three triples. Olmstead had 15 multiple-hit games on the season, had a 10-game hitting streak, and reached base safely in 22 straight games. When pitching, Olmstead recorded a 2.81 ERA in 41.2 innings of work, with a 4-1 overall record and a team-best six saves.

Fletcher, who will be a walk-on with the University of Illinois baseball team next year (his father and grandfather also played at Illinois), finished his sophomore year with 69 RBIs, second in NJCAA Division II baseball. He hit .381, banging out 27 extra base hits (23 doubles, 2 triples and 2 home runs) and scoring 53 runs. On the mound, Fletcher appeared in 14 games with 12.2 innings pitched. He was 0-1 with eight saves and a .071 ERA

The Danville Dans are a member of the Prospect League, one of the premier college summer leagues in the nation. Baseball players from California, Florida, and all across the Midwest - include eight who come from Illinois - are coming to Danville to improve their fielding skills and batting with wood bats. With this dedication, it is no wonder that some players advance to the major leagues after graduation, including 20 former Dan players.

The Dans play on the road tonight through Monday, and have home games next week on Tuesday, and Thursday through Saturday. Game time is 6:30 pm (except Thursday - a 6:00 pm double-header) at historic Danville Stadium.

Fans can find complete details on the team's Facebook page or website, www.DanvilleDans.com.
