Paints Win Weather-Shortened Game 3-2

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints (8-9) beat the Kokomo Jackrabbits (10-8) 3-2 for their fifth straight win Wednesday night at VA Memorial Stadium. The game was called due to thunderstorms in the top of the eighth inning.

Kokomo scored an unearned run in the top of the first to take an early lead, but it didn't last long.

Nick Ryan hit his first home run of the year, a solo shot off of the scoreboard, to get the Paints on the board in the bottom of the first and tie the game at one after one inning.

Chillicothe added a run in the bottom of the second. Brad Boss doubled with two outs and scored on a Michael Blatchford RBI single to give the Paints a 2-1 lead after two.

The Paints made it 3-1 in the third when, after the first two batter struck out, Dylan Jones was hit by a pitch, went to second base on a Jesse Forestell single, and scored on a Jamie Lackner RBI single.

Kokomo capped the scoring and made it 3-2 with a run in the top of the fourth. Ryan Hutchinson doubled to lead off the inning and scored three batters later on a Cole Nieto RBI single.

Chillicothe starter Kevin Zullo (1-0) earned his first win of the season, he tossed five innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits, walked two and struck out four.

David Current pitched the final 2 1/3 innings, allowing just one hit and one walk before the storms moved in and play was halted. Current collected his second save of the season.

Kokomo starter Mike Anthony (3-1) took his first loss of the year after allowing three runs on nine hits. Anthony struck out two, hit one batter and threw a wild pitch.

The Paints now hit the road for their next three games. They'll take on the Terre Haute REX Thursday and the Lafayette Aviators Friday and Saturday.
