BECKLEY, W.Va. - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, jumped out to a 4-0 lead, eventually beating the West Virginia Miners 5-3 Monday night at Linda K. Epling Stadium.

The Miners cut the Paints' lead to one with a run in the fifth. Clayton Mehlbauer walked with one out and scored three batters later on a groundout by Michael Piniero.

Colin Shepherd led off the seventh inning for the Paints with a double. He stole third with one out and scored on a sacrifice fly by Justin McIntyre, making it 5-3, the eventual final.

Mitch Milheim (2-1) earned the win in relief. The lefthander threw 4 1/3 innings, allowing one run on two hits, walking three and striking out four. Nate Haugh retired all five batters he faced, striking out four, to finish the game, collecting his Prospect League-leading sixth save of the season.

The Paints are back home Tuesday night hosting the Miners at 7:05 p.m. To celebrate Independence Day, there will be a postgame FIREWORKS EXTRAVAGANZA, sponsored by 94 Country.
