Rockford Thunder News Release

ROCKFORD - The Rockford Thunder has signed former Harlem High School and Northern Illinois University pitcher Paige Granath to the team front office, team General Manager Aaron M. Moore announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.

Granath will begin giving pitching lessons out of the Thunder facility on Saturday, Nov. 1 and will do so during the off-season. She is available for lessons on Tuesday's, Thursday's and Saturday's and lessons are $40/hour. To arrange a lesson, please contact the Thunder office directly.

Granath, who is originally from Machesney Park, Ill., played for the Huskies after transferring from Division III Lewis University. While at Harlem H.S. she posted an 18-4 record with one save in 2002 and was named to the Illinois Coaches Association Class AA All-State squad for her efforts, which included 271 strikeouts and just 21 walks in 172 innings. She holds HHS records for strikeouts in a season and a career and she tossed a pair of perfect games during her senior season. Granath was a member of the 1998-99 IHSA Class AA State Champions.

"I am excited to be a part of the Thunder organization and looking forward at helping young pitchers in the area," exclaimed Granath. "Softball is the best game in the world, I love being around it, and have really missed it the past two years. I am really excited to get involved in fastpitch again.

I was fortunate enough to have had the best pitching coach in the area (Tim Parrish), who helped me more than I can say, and was able to get my education paid for by pitching. I hope to help other girls out the same way he helped me. College is expensive, and any extra financial aid can really help."

"We are very excited to have Paige come on board to be a part of the Thunder organization," said Moore. "She is a well-like individual and she works well with you being a coach and teacher. We're excited about the things she'll be able to do to help us out."
