CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Florida Fire Frogs rallied late against the Clearwater Threshers on Friday night, but dropped the middle game of the three-game series at Spectrum Field, 4-2.

Isranel Wilson (2x3, R, BB) started the ninth with a walk against Addison Russ (SV, 2), and moved up to third on Kevin Josephina's (2x4, 2B) single to right. Lucas Herbert (0x4, RBI) grounded into a fielder's choice to push across Wilson to bring the Fire Frogs within two, and advanced to second on a ground out to third by Cristian Pache (2x5, R, 2B).

Riley Delgado (1x5) kept the game alive with a bloop single to left, but Garrison Schwartz (1x5) bounced out to second to end the night.

Florida (14-15, 43-52) took the early lead with a run in the first. Pache smacked a double to left to start the game with his 100th hit of the season, becoming the first player in the Florida State League to reach the century mark in 2018. Two batters later, Schwartz rolled into a double play, with Pache scoring from third for the 1-0 advantage after half a frame.

The score remained the same heading into the eighth, as Kyle Muller (4-2) took the shutout bid through seven innings. The Dallas native walked the Luke Williams to start the four-run frame, and followed that up with a single by Kyle Martin.

After a sacrifice bunt by Jose Gomez, the Fire Frogs' starter walked Kevin Markham to load the bases, and surrendered a grand slam on an 0-1 pitch to Jose Pujols to see Clearwater (14-12, 48-48) pull ahead by three.

Jakob Hernandez (3-0) picked up the win for the home team, as the left-handed reliever allowed a hit and struck out a batter in a scoreless inning of work.

Florida takes aim at the series victory for the second consecutive night in the rubber match of the three-game set at Spectrum Field on Saturday night. RHP Jeremy Walker (2-9, 4.68) takes the mound for the Fire Frogs against RHP Adonis Medina (8-3, 4.92).
