
Owls Announce April 2nd Open House and Two Local Players

FOREST CITY, NC - The 2016 season for the Forest City Owls will commence with an Open House at McNair Field on April 2nd. The fiÂrst ever event offers a chance to talk to the owners, general manager and front offiÂce about the upcoming season. The team also has a major announcement planned regarding the 2016 schedule.
Individual game tickets will go on sale at the event. Guests will get their fiÂrst look at McNair Field and enjoy free hot dogs, soft drinks and other Owls paraphernalia to get in the baseball spirit just days before the Major League season starts. Weather permitting, fans will also have the chance to run, throw and hit on the fiÂeld.
The team will also distribute schedules and rosters to excite fans for the 30 home games on the schedule. Manager JT Maguire returns for his second season making out the lineup for the Owls. His 32-man roster includes to local talents now playing collegiate baseball.
Tripp Hamrick and Connor Dailey of Lenoir-Rhyne University return to Rutherford County to play for the Owls. The entire roster will be formally announced at the fiÂrst ever Forest City Owls Open House on April 2nd at McNair Field.
Rutherfordton's own Conner Dailey gets set for his sophomore season of eligibility at Lenoir-Rhyne after transferring from UNC-Wilmington. Before playing collegiate ball, he pitched at R.S. Central High School.
Maguire will use Dailey, a righty, to bolster his pitching staff. Through fiÂve games at Lenoir-Rhyne this season, Dailey has one bullpen outing. He did not allow a baserunner through 1.2 innings and struck out a batter.
Maguire's pitching rotation also features familiar names Chris Raasch and Chaz Miller - both back for a reprise after pitching for Forest City in 2015. Raasch, from Tusculum College, threw in 14 games last season. Miller, out of BluefiÂeld College, earned a 2.25 ERA through 11 appearances.
Tripp Hamrick calls Ellenboro home. The right-hander plays infield at Lenoir-Rhyne, just as he did for four seasons under coach Bobby Reynolds at East Rutherford. Though he specializes at second base and shortstop, his one appearance through fiÂve games for the Bears came at third base. This season marks Tripp's sophomore year of eligibility. Hamrick's younger brother, Tucker, plays at East Rutherford.
Lock down seats for all 30 home games this year with season tickets. The Owls play 28 regular season games against opponents of the Coastal Plain League and two exhibition games, including the May 30th season opener against the United States Military All-Stars.
